Hot Rod Mater – Disney Store Chase

A couple weeks ago, we found Hot Rod Lightning McQueen, and we’re happy to present his new counterpart, also a Disney Store “Chase” exclusive:  Hot Rod Mater!

He’s totally tricked out in his dragster body-style and is ready to race!

The all-black body with the red and white details makes this car a stunning addition to our collection.

Dawson describes this car as “full of engines and awesome stuff.”  That pretty much sums it up.

No doubt, the hippest tow truck in all of Radiator Springs.

Gold Lightning McQueen – New Disney Store Chase

The Disney Store keeps releasing these non-canon versions of the Cars 2 cars. And we seriously cannot pass these up. The newest one is Gold Lightning McQueen. The paint job is very similar to the Fabrizio car that we reviewed a couple weeks ago.

The extra-shiny golden-orange paint job is a nice compliment to the flame-colored decals that cover Lightning McQueen from front-to-back.

Here he is on the base that the Disney Store cars come with.  This one only says “Lightning McQueen”.  There’s no mention of his new golden paint job.

Disney Pixar Cars – Prince Wheeliam

Before “Cars 2” was released, we saw a promotional photo released of a new car called Prince Wheeliam. From the moment we saw that car, we knew that we had to own the diecast model. This car is just amazingly beautiful. And then last summer, the diecast was officially released. Now for the bad news… because he is a “Chase” model, this makes the car SUPER rare. And despite repeatedly stopping in every single Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us, our search was unsuccessful. Our next option was going to be eBay, but we’d prefer to NOT spend $30 on this one car (it retails for only $4 in stores (if you can find it).

A couple months ago, we picked up an extra Rip Clutchgoneski (as mentioned in our Christmas Cars posting) for a fellow collector. They said that they already had that car and politely passed on the one we bought. So we stored it in a closet with plans to just return it to the store. But then we looked up the value online and found Rip was also selling for $30.

That’s when we turned to the message boards. One of our Favorites is Cars The Toys and we found a dedicated Trading Board. And in no time, we had 2 offers to swap our Rip Clutchgoneski for a brand new Prince Wheeliam.

So without further ado, let us present Prince Wheeliam:

He looks good on the card, but we just couldn’t resist taking him out.

The paint job is amazing, with the Union Jack flag highlighting the top of the car, and running down the front and back as racing stripes.

It goes without being said that he’s the car-ized version of Prince William.  In the movie, he is always cruising alongside the Queen (his grandmother).

We have yet to decipher the license plate, “LR58 GYI”.  Any guesses what this stands for?

He’s modeled after the Bentley Continental GT, which is one of the top cars on our “if we win the lottery” wishlist.  I’m sure you can see why.

You can’t stop looking at it either, can you?

Needless to say, we’re excited to add Prince Wheeliam to our collection!  Leave us a comment and let us know what you think of the prince.

Pics – Hot Rod Lightning McQueen & Fabrizio

As promised, here are some detailed pics of the new Chase Hot Rod Lightning McQueen and Fabrizio from the Disney Store. These ones are 1:43 scale (bigger than the 1:55 scale that Mattel produces).

Every time we show someone this car, they say “I don’t remember him from the movie”.  well… here he is.  Proof that Mattel didn’t just make this guy up.

CHASE Cars! Cartney Brakin, Officer Murakarmi, & Becky Wheelin

We normally aren’t this lucky, but we were able to score 3 new chase cars! We were originally going to keep these in their cards and on display in Dawson’s bedroom, but that’s no fun. These 3 cars certainly do not disappoint. Check out Dawson’s video review:

And since these cars are just so beautiful, we took lots of photos.

Cartney Brakin is lightning McQueen’s #1 fan.

Cartney looks great in the package… but even better outside. The lightning bolt comes as a separate piece and needs to just be inserted into a hole in the top. It stays in nicely, though… so no worries over it just falling out.

This character’s design is top-notch! Nothing says “Lightning McQueen’s Biggest Fan” like an exact replica of Lightning’s paint job. We’ve been waiting for this car to be released since we first saw the movie.

Officer Murakarmi is an airport security guard, responsible for guarding the gates.

This diecast is pushing its size limits in that package.  We’d better let him out.

Don’t mess with this guy.  He’s nearly 100% diecast (only the sirens on top are plastic).

The expression on this car is awesome too.  We love when they add personality into the diecast cars.

Becky Wheelin only appears as a passerby in the airport scene.  Why use such a terrific character as an extra?  Let’s start a petition to get Becky a better role in Cars 3!

Becky Wheelin – Front Angle

We’re not sure why… but Becky Wheelin is a FAST car!  We played with the cars back-and-forth for a while and Becky was rolling more than twice as far as the other cars.  Just be careful that she doesn’t hit the wall and scratch that beautiful paint job.

We’ve got some Chase cars from the first “Cars” movie that we’re getting ready to open, so be on the lookout for that.  And we’re also hitting up stores more than usual… not just because of the upcoming holidays, but because we hear that Prince Wheeliam is on the loose… and he is one of Dad’s favorites!  As soon as we find it, we’ll post it.  Wish us luck!

We’d love to hear your feedback.  Leave us a comment below and let us know what you think.  Do you have a favorite Chase car?
